KALAMATA OLIVES

KALAMATA OLIVES

Grown in the typical area of Messenia, in the southern Peloponnese, Kalamata olives take their name from the main city, Kalamata.

They are shaped like squat almonds, dark in color, tending towards purple, and are only obtained when fully ripe. The plant is distinguished from the normal olive tree by the shape of its leaves, which are twice as large as those of other varieties.
